A Show For Him

It was eight o’clock in the morning as I puttered around in the kitchen. The sun was already up and it promised to be another beautiful August day. But, this wasn’t just any day. Today was our twenty-eighth wedding anniversary.

Could that possibly be true? Just thinking about the number made me shake my head in wonder. I still thought of myself in the same way that I always had. However, a quick glance in the mirror was more than enough to remind me that I no longer resembled that young, thin twenty year old that had walked down that aisle so long ago. A Sensual Backrub

Hannah leaned her elbows on the counter and stared blankly out into the empty mall.

“Geez, could this night BE any slower?” she thought, letting out a big yawn.

She sat up straight and adjusted her navy blue suit jacket, and fluffed out her curly brown hair. That was the only bad part of this jewelry store job: the fact that she had to wear a suit everyday, and the SLOW ass business. The good part was that Hannah looked great in a suit, and she knew it. She was a thick girl, with long legs and large breasts. Even though she was fairly modest, she enjoyed wearing low-cut camisoles underneath her suit jacket. Her male customers tended to buy more when she wore them, she noticed.

She stood up and stretched, fighting back another yawn. Five minutes until closing time! Hannah checked herself out in the full-length mirror in the middle of the store. She planned on getting a bite and a drink at the local bar and grill across the street from the mall after work. She studied her rosy face in the mirror for a minute.

I laid down on the

As I laid down on the warm rocks to dry off before heading back to the house I was also acutely aware of one more feeling. It’s funny, but I found that I missed having him there watching me. I wondered if he would ever appear again.

On my journey back to the house I half expected my admirer to spring out of the bushes at any moment. Of course that didn’t happen. Upon entering our home my mind turned to what I would say to Bill. Should I be completely honest with him and tell him? Usually that is what I would have naturally done. However, I rationalized that I had done nothing to be ashamed of. It’s not like I had snuck around and had an affair. I thought that maybe the best course to take would be to just see where things went from here. Who knew? Maybe he would never return for a repeat performance. Read the rest of this entry »

pulled into his driveway and saw

Pete pulled into his driveway and saw Peggy from next door sitting on his doorstep. He got out of the car and heard her crying.

“Hey, Peg, what’s up?” he asked.

“John left me,” she sobbed tears streaming down her face.

“What? No way. Come on inside and tell me what happened.”

He lived alone but had always kept up good relations with all his neighbors especially Peggy. It was cool in the house and she sat on the sofa while Pete fixed them drinks. He handed her one and sat at the other end of the large sofa. Peggy took a large gulp, coughed because it was so strong then sipped before talking. She told Pete how John and she had fought it ending up with him packing his clothes and leaving.

“Pete, he called me fat and ugly. I’m not am I?”

They both knew she would never win a beauty contest with looks or her body, but she was very attractive. The rest of her was a bit on the chunky side but still nice to see, he thought.

“I’m sure he was talking from anger. Lots of times John told me how good you had always looked to him and he said it with pride. I fully agree with him, Peg. You are very attractive. You’re always the life of any party and everybody loves you.”

He saw her glass was empty and went to the bar. Fresh drinks in hand he turned and she was sitting more on the edge of the sofa. She took the glass and this time sipped it more slowly.

“I thank you for your kind words, but look at me, Pete. Am I really fat?”

For a moment he was startled. It was like she had caught him doing what he always did when around her, trying to look down the front of her blouse. Peggy was wearing what had become known as her uniform. A loose skirt and open in the front blouse. It seemed most of the men in the neighborhood had eyes doing the same thing. Probably because being just a little bit bigger than most of their wives she had also developed a rather large chest.

A Sense of Triumph

He had just turned sixty when his wife passed away. Along with her passed the dreams of a retirement of travel with her as his constant companion. They had planned to travel the world together, but it was not to be. Now he moped about their home with no ambition or desire to do anything, including keep the house clean. He sometimes straightened a little, knowing how disappointed she would have been to see her home in such disorder. He couldn’t bring himself to show much interest in anything, until finally, his children told him he had to clean up his act. He cleaned up the litter, but having no desire to scrub and dust, hired the Mopping Maid Service to clean his home. They arrived the following Monday to clean, and unbeknownst to him at the time, change his life forever. Read the rest of this entry »

blue cell phone

The blue cell phone vibrated on the passenger seat as Justine accelerated through the yellow light and onto Germantown Road. She seized it quickly and flipped it open before it rang a third time.

“Hey, Laura. What’s going on?”

“Justine! How’re you doing? I was just wondering if you could drop by and help me out with my physics homework. I really don’t get thermodynamics at all and Ms. Polack can’t teach worth shit.”

Justine smiled. “Sure! I was just heading over to McDonald’s for a pumpkin pie. I’ll drive over to your place as soon as I’m done.”  Read the rest of this entry »

In one month, shortly

after my eighteenth birthday, I would join the Navy and I could not wait to go, to pack a few personal things and blast away from this place. Until then I was still living with my parents in Idaho Falls. My father, a carpenter, a forest fire fighter and too often a drunk slapping my mother around before passing out lived for dry fly angling. Wading in one of the forks of the Snake River, he whipped the rod of his Diamondback reel with such an economy of motion, a purity of effort, it never failed to dazzle onlookers. I hated fly-fishing as much as he loved it. Fuck fly-fishing.

A Ride Home

“Thanks so much for the ride Sonny. I can’t believe I left my cell phone home.” Leah Danvers said to the young man as she opened the back door and led him into the kitchen.

“Don’t mention it Mrs. Danvers. I was coming by anyway to see if Mike wanted to shoot some hoops.” He replied, looking around the spacious kitchen. He moved to stand behind her, leaning his jean clad hips on the kitchen’s island.

“I’ll have my husband take a look at the car when he gets home.” She said, turning and almost bumping into him. “Oh.” She said a bit out of breath. “Would you like something to drink?”

“Water would be good.”

She smiled, turned and opened the cabinet for a glass. Filling it from a cold pitcher in the refrigerator, she handed it to him. Their fingers brushed and she stepped back quickly, busying herself with putting away some dishes.

Leah could feel his eyes on her as she moved around the suddenly small kitchen. Sonny was 18 and had been best friends with her son since kindergarten. He was every bit of 6′3″ and at least 200 pounds. He was all muscle. The black tank he wore showed off his broad shoulders and powerful arms. His hair was dark and cut short to his head. His deep brown eyes followed her as she moved. Read the rest of this entry »
